I was impressed first discovering this place. The dealers are good and the overall atmosphere is friendly. Loud at times because the full bar is close by with no divider or seperation. They generally have 1-2 tables going each night with a waiting list that usually goes to the early hours of the morning. Great small tournaments throughout the week and a bigger one at the end of each month. Floor personnel are professional, personal and add to the experience. Food is available to players (for free) at various times during the week. There are different skill levels which makes it a good local place to frequent. I give it a 9 simply because you can always find ways to do a better job. As you can tell I think this is a great local find for the occassional card player. AlK 9
The hole is one of the best places in the bay area to play cards. It has a nice friendly enviorment, its run extremly well, all there staff is are extremly knowlegable and know what they are doing. a fun place to be i suggest everyone try it at least once!10
a very nice, recent remodeling job makes the 19th Hole a comfortable playing environment. A friendly & knowledgeable staff keeps things rolling as smoothly as possible for a small cardroom. the action is pretty wild, most of the time, for a 2-4, or 3-6 texas holdem game. The service was excellent & my experience enjoyable. 2 thumbs up!8
The rake is oppressive ($4), for a 2-4 game. I guess it is used to finance their jackpot games which is very popular during the week. Friday and Sat have 2-4 limit which is populated by a lot of locals. The average age of players was younger than at most places I've played. Lots of twenty somethings, though they looked younger. No complimentary drinks or food. The atmosphere was very friendly and informal. They probably should enforce their rule about language, though. They should also allow the games to go on if they become shorthanded. The table I was playing on closed when it went down to 6 players. I actually prefer shorthanded games and was kind of put off by having to move. The brush person probably should have asked the players if they wanted the game to continue, as it seemed that the other players were game. A couple people had to wait till the other table lost some players before resuming their play. The club had two tables and allowed the players to play out of a rack. In fact, 8 of the 10 on my table played directly from the rack. Kind of slowed things down, but I was okay with it. Could use a little more lighting in some areas of the parking lot. 6
